Today has been pretty rough.....
My niece and nephew were unexpectedly picked up by their mother. This all happened within a 24 hour period and we are all reeling from the shock.
I can't grasp my head around the worry that I have for the future of those two children. I"m not sure they are going to grow up to be well adjusted adults and that breaks my heart and makes me feel so helpless. My nephew especially needs support and assistance that I"m not sure we could provide and I feel for sure he won't get when he goes back to his previous home. What do you do in a situation like that? What is the best thing for these children and how do we provide it? Every child needs stability and I am so upset we were blocked from having a relationship with them for over 10 years. I feel that at this point, we won't be able to have a lasting positive impact on their lives. Then I think of Konnor, and he also felt the impact of this on his life. He often was the butt of their jokes and would be ganged up on and belittled. What is right for his well being? I have been sick all day worrying about the the kids....my mom and I didn't even get to say goodbye as their mother was supposed to be here at midnight tonight and unexpectedly showed up around 4 pm before we were off of work and promptly loaded up and left. We didn't even hug them goodbye as we thought we would see them again. I am worried contact will be cut off again and we won't ever see them again. I wonder what could have been if we had only been given a chance to be part of their lives as they were growing up.
There are no winners in this situation.

That is heartbreaking....hope you get to see the kids again soon. Even though you didn't get to say goodbye, they know you love them.
Becky, I am so sorry. ((hugs)) My sister has 2 steps boys who were left with dad my bil for 2yrs, then mom dediced she wanted them back and raised them til they were old enough to be on there own. I will say, they remembered those days with dad, how he loved them, took them took church, and had fun with them. They know have a wonderful relationship with dad, I think the memories your neice and nephew have shared with your family these last fews months will always be with them. They know that you loved them... How hard for Connor though too, poor little guy, give him extra loving.
